GD: Login as Customer vs RetainIQfor Shopify (2026)
GD: Login as Customer and RetainIQ are Shopify apps addressing different needs within the 'Support - Other' category. GD: Login as Customer targets Shopify Plus merchants seeking a straightforward solution for accessing customer accounts to troubleshoot issues, test experiences, and provide real-time support. Its core value proposition lies in simplifying customer support and testing via direct account access. This app leverages Shopify Multipass, a crucial detail that limits its accessibility. The lack of reviews makes judging its reliability difficult. RetainIQ, on the other hand, caters to eCommerce stores aiming to improve customer retention and conversion through hyper-personalization in email and SMS marketing. It emphasizes creating 1:1 user experiences by leveraging data sources and APIs to personalize customer interactions. Its key focus is on enhancing customer lifetime value (CLTV) and revenue through tailored marketing campaigns. The positive reviews and high rating suggest a well-regarded and functional app for its intended purpose.

Our Verdict
GD: Login as Customer is a specialized tool best suited for Shopify Plus merchants who prioritize direct customer account access for troubleshooting and testing. The lack of reviews is a significant drawback, but the core functionality is clear. However, this is a big risk for merchant. RetainIQ, with its strong rating and focus on personalized marketing, is a better fit for general eCommerce stores seeking to boost retention and conversions. It offers a more comprehensive approach to customer engagement, though it doesn't provide direct customer account access.
For merchants on Shopify Plus specifically needing customer support account access, the Login as Customer app may be useful, although risky due to the zero star rating, which can indicate a lack of users or significant issues. For all other stores, RetainIQ provides a better opportunity for value and personalization in the customer engagement area.
