geolizr vs Geolocation & Markets—Selectyfor Shopify (2026)
Both geolizr and Geolocation & Markets—Selecty aim to help Shopify merchants target international customers by offering features that personalize the shopping experience based on location. Geolizr focuses on simplicity and ease of use, providing essential geo-targeting functionalities like redirects, localized pricing, and notification widgets. Selecty, on the other hand, is a more comprehensive solution that deeply integrates with Shopify Markets and Global-e Managed Markets, offering advanced features like automatic browser language redirects, multiple expansion store connectivity, and extensive selector options (currency, language, and country). The key difference lies in their target audience. Geolizr seems geared towards merchants who need basic geo-targeting capabilities, perhaps those just starting to expand internationally or who require simple solutions. Selecty is positioned for merchants already using Shopify Markets or Global-e or planning on substantial international expansion, offering robust features to optimize the customer journey in various markets. While both apps share some features, Selecty provides greater customization and integration possibilities for more complex global strategies. While Geolizr allows redirection to locale stores via a widget, and notifications or popups, Selecty offers more advanced automatic redirects, and selectors for customers to manually choose preferences. This points to a difference in strategy: Geolizr might prioritize immediate automatic redirection, whereas Selecty caters to markets where user control and transparency are key.

Our Verdict
For merchants seeking a straightforward solution to display country-specific content, offer localized pricing, and redirect customers to relevant stores without complex configurations, geolizr provides a solid foundation. Its simplicity and ease of use make it an attractive option for those just starting their international expansion journey. The widget-based approach prioritizes immediate action and potentially higher redirection rates.
However, for merchants heavily invested in Shopify Markets or Global-e, or who require granular control over customer localization options, Geolocation & Markets—Selecty is the clear winner. Its deep integration, advanced features like language selectors and automatic browser language redirects, and market-specific recommendations provide a richer and more tailored experience for international customers, although with potentially more setup and configuration overhead. Selecty's approach prioritizes user agency and choice.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Based on the descriptions, geolizr is likely easier to set up due to its focus on essential features and widget-based approach. Selecty, with its deeper integration and wider range of options, would probably require more configuration.
Does geolizr support automatic language redirection?
The app description doesn't explicitly state automatic language redirection. It mentions country-specific content and currency display, but language handling is unclear.
Can Selecty work without Shopify Markets?
While Selecty is designed to boost sales on Shopify Markets, it appears to offer standalone features like currency, language, and country selectors and IP-based geolocation redirects that may be useful even without full Market utilization. However, its core value proposition is tied to Markets and Global-e.
Which app is better for merchants with multiple international stores?
Both apps offer redirection capabilities for stores with multiple international domains, but Selecty offers more robust tools for managing and connecting multiple expansion stores directly, specifically through the connect multiple expansion stores feature. Geolizr only mentions store redirects, not multiple store management.
Which app offers greater flexibility in customizing the user experience?
Selecty offers superior flexibility due to its granular control over currency, language, and country selection, as well as its market-specific recommendations and automatic browser language redirect. Geolizr's widget-based approach is likely less flexible.
