Geolocation country redirect vs Hextom: Currency Converterfor Shopify (2026)
Geolocation country redirect and Hextom: Currency Converter, while both falling under the 'Geolocation' category on Shopify, serve distinct purposes for merchants in 2026. Geolocation country redirect focuses on automatically redirecting users to a storefront optimized for their detected country, likely improving user experience and conversion rates by presenting localized content and pricing from the outset. Hextom: Currency Converter, on the other hand, concentrates on allowing customers to browse and purchase products in their local currency. While both apps utilize geolocation data, they address different aspects of international sales and customer experience. Geolocation country redirect is ideal for merchants who have multiple storefronts tailored for different countries and want to seamlessly guide customers to the correct version. This can be useful for businesses with varying product availability or pricing strategies based on location. Hextom: Currency Converter is beneficial for businesses that operate primarily from a single storefront but want to cater to international customers by providing a familiar currency display. The difference lies in redirecting the user entirely versus only altering the currency display based on geolocation. Although Geolocation country redirect has a higher rating of 5/5, it's based on a smaller sample size of 21 reviews compared to Hextom: Currency Converter's 4.7/5 rating from 38 reviews. This larger sample size might give more confidence in the reliability of Hextom's rating, despite being slightly lower. Merchants should consider this difference in review volume when making their decision.

Common Questions
Which app is better for SEO?
Geolocation country redirect may have a slight edge as it directs users to localized storefronts, potentially improving SEO through targeted content. Hextom: Currency Converter's impact is likely less direct, but showing local currency could increase conversions, indirectly benefiting SEO.
If I only sell in USD, do I need either app?
If you only sell in USD and have no plans to expand internationally, neither app is necessary. These apps cater to merchants targeting international customers.
Can these apps be used together?
Yes, these apps can theoretically be used together. You could use Geolocation country redirect to send customers to a store tailored for their region, and Hextom: Currency Converter within that store to display prices in their local currency. However, careful consideration should be given to avoid conflicting functionality and ensure a seamless user experience.
Which app is easier to set up?
Based on their functionalities, Hextom: Currency Converter is likely easier to set up. Configuring a currency converter is generally simpler than managing multiple storefronts and defining redirect rules for different countries.
How do these apps handle VPN usage?
Both apps rely on geolocation data to function, and VPNs can mask a user's true location. This may result in incorrect redirects or currency displays. It's important to test how the apps behave with VPNs and potentially provide users with an option to manually select their country/currency if the automatic detection fails.
