Geolocation country redirect vs LIHI Short Linksfor Shopify (2026)
Geolocation country redirect and LIHI Short Links, while both appearing under the 'Geolocation' category on Shopify, serve fundamentally different purposes. Geolocation country redirect focuses on automatically redirecting users based on their geographic location, presumably to localized versions of a store. Its perfect 5/5 rating from 21 reviews suggests strong user satisfaction with this core function. LIHI Short Links, on the other hand, is a marketing tool designed to shorten URLs for easier sharing, A/B test different link variations, and track click data. The primary difference lies in their focus. Geolocation country redirect prioritizes user experience by ensuring visitors see the correct store version for their region. LIHI Short Links prioritizes marketing efficiency by enabling A/B testing and detailed analytics for link performance. The lack of ratings and reviews for LIHI Short Links makes it difficult to assess its reliability and user-friendliness compared to the Geolocation country redirect app. Their shared category is misleading. While IP-based geolocation is crucial for Geolocation country redirect's function, LIHI Short Links uses it only for tracking the geographic distribution of clicks on shortened links; it isn't central to the app's core operation. Thus, the apps cater to completely distinct needs within the broader e-commerce landscape.

Our Verdict
For a merchant seeking to automatically direct customers to the correct regional version of their store, Geolocation country redirect is the clear choice. Its high rating and positive reviews suggest it performs this function well. However, for a marketer looking to optimize link-based marketing campaigns through A/B testing, detailed analytics, and shortened URLs, LIHI Short Links is the more suitable option, *assuming* the lack of reviews is simply due to its newness and not indicative of underlying issues.
Given the absence of reviews for LIHI Short Links, potential users should proceed cautiously. A merchant focused on a single, established storefront may find Geolocation country redirect irrelevant, but a business scaling internationally, or with multiple domains for different regions, will likely find its services invaluable. Conversely, if you already have geolocation handled, but need marketing optimization, the link testing and shortening features of LIHI might be useful.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up and use?
Based on available information, Geolocation country redirect likely offers a simpler setup due to its singular focus. The LIHI Short Links app might require more initial configuration to leverage its A/B testing and analytics features.
Does either app help improve SEO?
Geolocation country redirect can indirectly improve SEO by ensuring users are directed to the correct regional version of your store, improving user experience. LIHI Short Links could indirectly improve SEO if A/B testing leads to higher click-through rates and engagement on social media or other platforms using the shortened links.
Which app is better for stores selling internationally?
Geolocation country redirect is explicitly designed for stores selling internationally by automatically redirecting users based on their location. LIHI Short Links is generally beneficial for any store using link-based marketing, regardless of its international presence, but doesn't directly facilitate international sales.
Can I use both apps together?
Yes, the apps can be used together. Geolocation country redirect manages redirection, and LIHI Short Links tracks the performance of the links used to market the different stores.
What is the biggest risk of using LIHI Short Links?
The biggest risk of using LIHI Short Links is the complete lack of reviews, which makes it impossible to assess its reliability, usability, and customer support. It could be a great app, but it's an unproven product. Proceed with caution.
