Geolocation & Markets—Selecty vs Glotio ‑ Advanced translatorfor Shopify (2026)
Geolocation & Markets—Selecty and Glotio ‑ Advanced translator both aim to help Shopify merchants expand internationally, but they take fundamentally different approaches. Selecty focuses on geolocation and market-specific recommendations, automatically directing users to the most relevant market based on their location, language, or browser settings. It offers features like currency, language, and country selectors, appealing to merchants who have already established separate Shopify Markets or use Global-e Managed Markets and need tools to guide users to the right storefront. Its strength lies in optimizing existing market strategies through intelligent redirection and localized presentation. Glotio, on the other hand, is a translation-centric app. It emphasizes automatically translating the entire storefront into multiple languages to improve SEO and conversion rates. While Selecty focuses on market segmentation and redirection, Glotio focuses on making a single storefront accessible to a global audience through translation. Glotio pitches itself as a way to build brand trust and improve search rankings in new markets, especially for merchants just starting to expand internationally. The lack of reviews and the offer of translating the first language suggest it's a newer app trying to gain traction. Given their distinct focus, the choice between the two depends largely on the merchant's current international strategy and goals. Selecty is ideal for merchants already using Shopify Markets or Global-e and needing a sophisticated geolocation solution, while Glotio might be better for merchants prioritizing a single, multilingual storefront.

Our Verdict
For merchants already leveraging Shopify Markets or Global-e, Geolocation & Markets—Selecty is the clear winner. Its advanced geolocation features and market redirection capabilities provide a sophisticated approach to guiding customers to the correct storefront and optimizing international sales. The strong rating and numerous positive reviews further support its effectiveness and user satisfaction.
However, if a merchant is just beginning to explore international expansion and wants to make their primary storefront accessible to a wider audience through translation, Glotio ‑ Advanced translator could be a viable option. However, the lack of reviews presents a significant risk. Merchants should carefully evaluate their specific needs and potentially explore alternative translation apps with established track records before committing to Glotio. Given the current data, Selecty is the safer and likely more effective choice for most merchants with established international ambitions.
