Geolocation & Markets—Selecty vs Traffic Guardfor Shopify (2026)
Geolocation & Markets—Selecty and Traffic Guard both leverage geolocation features for Shopify stores, but cater to drastically different needs. Selecty focuses on *enhancing* the customer experience and boosting global sales by automatically presenting the correct language, currency, and market recommendations based on the visitor's location. It aims to streamline international shopping and improve conversion rates. Traffic Guard, on the other hand, is positioned as a *security and control* tool, allowing merchants to actively manage access to their store based on IP addresses and geolocation. It’s designed for blocking unwanted traffic, redirecting visitors to specific stores, or protecting the store from competitors. The fundamental difference lies in their goals: Selecty aims to attract and convert international customers, while Traffic Guard focuses on controlling and restricting access. Selecty offers features like currency switchers, language selectors, and automated redirects based on browser language, suggesting a user-friendly and conversion-oriented approach. Traffic Guard emphasizes rule-based targeting and blacklisting/whitelisting functionalities, catering to merchants with specific security or competitive strategies. The significant difference in user ratings and the number of reviews further underscores the disparity in user satisfaction and market adoption. Ultimately, the choice between the two depends entirely on the merchant's primary objective. A merchant aiming to grow international sales and provide a seamless localized shopping experience will likely find Selecty a better fit. Conversely, a merchant prioritizing security, control over traffic, or wanting to implement specific redirection strategies will likely prefer Traffic Guard.

Our Verdict
For merchants focused on growing their international sales and providing a seamless localized shopping experience for their customers, Geolocation & Markets—Selecty is the clear choice. Its features are designed to enhance the customer experience and make it easier for international customers to purchase products. The high rating and large number of reviews suggest that it is a well-regarded and effective app.
Traffic Guard, on the other hand, is better suited for merchants who prioritize security, control over their website traffic, and protection against unwanted access. This app is less about growing sales and more about protecting the store and implementing specific redirection strategies. While the rating is lower and the number of reviews is smaller, it could still be a valuable tool for merchants with specific security or competitive needs. Unless a merchant has a very specific reason to block or redirect traffic, Geolocation & Markets—Selecty will likely provide more immediate and positive results in terms of growing a business.
