Geolocation Orbe vs Link Redirect Managerfor Shopify (2026)
Geolocation Orbe and Link Redirect Manager are Shopify apps targeting different aspects of URL redirection and customer experience, despite sharing the 'Geolocation' category. Geolocation Orbe focuses on adapting the storefront to the customer's location, language, and currency using geolocation technology and integration with Shopify Markets or Global-e. This app aims to boost global sales and improve the customer journey by presenting a localized storefront. In contrast, Link Redirect Manager addresses a very specific scenario: redirecting customers from an old URL to a new URL after a store migration to Shopify. Geolocation Orbe is geared towards merchants with a global presence or those planning to expand internationally. It offers features for customizing the geolocation experience, including popup customization, country selectors, and language switchers. On the other hand, Link Redirect Manager is designed for merchants who have recently migrated to Shopify from another platform and need to ensure customers using old URLs are directed to the correct pages on their new Shopify store. The app's core functionality revolves around managing and uploading URL redirects, primarily using a CSV file. The significant difference is that Geolocation Orbe seeks to *actively* determine the best storefront for each customer based on location, while Link Redirect Manager passively redirects based on *existing* incoming requests to outdated URLs, a one-time process after platform migration.

Our Verdict
Geolocation Orbe is the better choice for merchants who are actively selling internationally or planning to expand into new markets. Its features focus on creating a localized shopping experience for customers based on their location and language. It enhances the overall customer experience, potentially leading to increased sales and customer satisfaction.
Link Redirect Manager is a niche tool specifically designed for merchants who have just migrated their store to Shopify from another platform. While essential for that specific scenario, its utility is limited once the migration is complete and all old URLs are redirected. Unless a merchant has recently migrated to Shopify, Geolocation Orbe offers a significantly broader and more valuable set of features for optimizing the customer experience and boosting sales.
Common Questions

Geolocation Orbe can indirectly improve SEO by providing a localized experience that caters to different regions. Link Redirect Manager is crucial for maintaining SEO during a site migration by preventing broken links.
Does either app offer A/B testing?
Based on the information provided, neither app explicitly mentions A/B testing functionality. However, Geolocation Orbe's customizable popups could be used indirectly to test different messaging.
Are these apps compatible with all Shopify themes?
While both apps aim for broad compatibility, it's always best practice to test them with your specific theme to ensure seamless integration. Geolocation Orbe's theme editor integration suggests a high degree of compatibility, but Link Redirect Manager should be universally compatible since URL redirection is a fundamental web technology.
Which app is easier to set up?
Link Redirect Manager likely has a simpler initial setup, requiring primarily the import of CSV data of old and new urls. Geolocation Orbe may require more configuration to set up Markets, language preferences, and design popups, but once set up, could require less manual intervention.
