Geolocation Orbe vs MLV Auto Currency Switcherfor Shopify (2026)
Geolocation Orbe and MLV Auto Currency Switcher both aim to improve the international customer experience on Shopify, but they approach this goal with different strategies. Orbe focuses on directing users to localized versions of the store through geolocation-based redirects and a customizable country selector, emphasizing a comprehensive localized experience including language, product offerings, and currency. It directly integrates with Shopify Markets or Global-e setups for broader expansion efforts. MLV Auto Currency Switcher, on the other hand, is more narrowly focused on currency conversion, automatically detecting a customer's location and displaying prices in their local currency using a customizable currency converter. It prioritizes a simple, seamless currency conversion experience and works with Shopify Payments to facilitate checkout in the customer's local currency. The choice between these apps hinges on the merchant's specific needs and existing internationalization setup. Orbe is more suitable for merchants who already utilize Shopify Markets or Global-e and need a robust solution for directing customers to the correct localized store version and managing language preferences, focusing on providing a comprehensive multi-store experience. MLV Auto Currency Switcher is ideal for merchants primarily concerned with currency conversion on a single store, prioritizing simplicity and ease of use to provide international customers with accurate pricing and a smooth shopping experience in their local currency. While Orbe handles redirects and store version management, MLV focuses on converting prices within a single store, making it simpler for smaller businesses.
