Our Verdict
For merchants primarily focused on directing users to specific store versions or content based on their geographical location to improve conversion rates and SEO, Geolocation Redirects | xapps is the more appropriate choice. Its customizable widgets and focus on automatic redirection offer a tailored solution. On the other hand, if a merchant needs a comprehensive solution for handling currency conversion, language selection, and supports both Shopify Market and non-Market countries as well as Shopify Payments and non-Shopify payments, Webrex ‑ Currency Converter is the better option. It provides a more holistic approach to international selling, though it lacks the specific SEO-focused redirection features of Geolocation Redirects.
Common Questions
Which app is better for a store with a single currency but customers worldwide?
Geolocation Redirects | xapps would be more relevant for directing international customers to country-specific promotions or content, even with a single currency. Webrex Currency Converter is less useful in this scenario as it's primarily for currency conversion.
Does Geolocation Redirects | xapps handle currency conversion?
No, Geolocation Redirects | xapps focuses on redirecting users based on location. It does not offer currency conversion features. You'd need a separate app like Webrex for that.
Which app is easier to set up for a beginner?
Based on the feature descriptions, it's difficult to definitively say which is easier. However, the specific nature of Geolocation Redirects | xapps might make initial setup simpler for users only concerned with redirection, while Webrex ‑ Currency Converter might require more initial configuration due to its wider range of features.
Which app is better for SEO?
Geolocation Redirects | xapps explicitly mentions being SEO-friendly, with automatic redirects disabled for web crawlers. Webrex ‑ Currency Converter does not mention SEO benefits directly. Thus, Geolocation Redirects | xapps is likely better for SEO due to this specific design consideration.
If I only want to block access to my store from certain countries, which app should I choose?
Geolocation Redirects | xapps includes the ability to 'block' a site from a specific country, which would be useful if that is the main goal. Webrex doesn't offer this feature directly.
