Givonate: Charity & Donations vs Shortagefor Shopify (2026)
Givonate: Charity & Donations and Shortage are both Shopify apps designed to integrate charitable giving into the e-commerce experience, but they approach this goal from different angles and target different merchant needs. Givonate focuses on enabling merchants to create and manage their own donation campaigns directly within their stores. It offers customizable donation widgets, real-time tracking, and analytics, catering to businesses seeking to build brand engagement and drive donations for specific charity causes. In contrast, Shortage connects a store's inventory with the real-time needs of US-based charities, allowing customers to donate items directly from the store. Our Verdict
For Shopify merchants looking to actively manage their own donation campaigns, track performance in real-time, and offer customizable donation options to their customers, Givonate: Charity & Donations is the better choice. Its features cater to businesses that want to promote specific charities and integrate donations deeply into their brand strategy. However, for merchants primarily focused on building customer loyalty and offering a simple, effortless way for customers to donate products to vetted US-based charities, Shortage may be more suitable, especially if minimizing setup and active campaign management is a priority. The lack of ratings and reviews for Shortage should be considered; Givonate, while only having four reviews, has demonstrated a positive user experience so far.
