GJ Competitor Price Tracking vs PriceMate – Make An Offerfor Shopify (2026)
GJ Competitor Price Tracking and PriceMate – Make An Offer are both Shopify apps in the Pricing and Pricing Optimization categories, but they serve fundamentally different purposes. GJ Competitor Price Tracking (hypothetically) focuses on automated competitor price monitoring, while PriceMate – Make An Offer enables a 'Make an Offer' or 'Pay What You Want' system, allowing customers to propose prices for products. This introduces a negotiation dynamic to the store, potentially increasing sales through haggling. GJ Competitor Price Tracking likely appeals to merchants looking to maintain competitive pricing strategies, while PriceMate targets merchants seeking to increase engagement and potentially capture sales from price-sensitive customers who might otherwise abandon their carts. The identical number of reviews (11) makes a direct comparison of user satisfaction difficult, but the slightly lower rating of PriceMate may reflect the complexities inherent in implementing a successful negotiation system.

Our Verdict
The choice between GJ Competitor Price Tracking and PriceMate depends entirely on the merchant's pricing strategy. If the goal is to automatically monitor and react to competitor pricing changes, presumably GJ Competitor Price Tracking is the better choice. However, if the merchant is open to negotiation and wants to encourage customer engagement by allowing them to propose prices, PriceMate is the more suitable option. PriceMate's multi-language and currency support makes it particularly attractive to businesses with a global customer base. It's important to note that the success of PriceMate hinges on the merchant's ability to manage the negotiation process effectively.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up and use?
Without more details, it's impossible to definitively say. GJ Competitor Price Tracking might be easier to set up if it's simply about monitoring prices. PriceMate, however, may require configuration of acceptable price ranges and negotiation strategies, which could take more initial setup time.
Which app offers better long-term ROI?
ROI depends on how effectively each app aligns with the merchant's business goals. GJ Competitor Price Tracking's ROI stems from optimized pricing leading to increased sales and profit margins. PriceMate's ROI depends on its ability to close deals through negotiation and attract customers who might have otherwise abandoned their cart.
Which app is better for a new Shopify store?
For a new store, a focus on competitive pricing (GJ Competitor Price Tracking) may be more crucial early on. PriceMate might be better suited for more established stores with sufficient traffic and a desire to experiment with innovative pricing strategies.
How much customisation is available for each app?
While GJ Competitor Price Tracking's customization is not described, PriceMate allows you to tailor messages and style based on brand identity, customise offer email notifications, and configure automated accept/decline/counteroffer rules.
Which app is best for dealing with large product catalogs?
The feasibility of PriceMate with a large product catalog depends on the management of offers and rules. GJ Competitor Price Tracking would generally scale better with large catalogs as it operates in the background without direct customer interaction per product.
