GoGenerosity ‑ Donations vs Impact By Salefor Shopify (2026)
GoGenerosity - Donations and Impact By Sale both aim to help Shopify merchants integrate charitable giving into their business models, but they approach it in fundamentally different ways. GoGenerosity focuses on enabling customers to donate directly, either sending funds to charities or converting donations into gift cards for the charity to purchase store products. It emphasizes flexibility in supporting multiple charities and displaying real-time impact. Impact By Sale, on the other hand, automates charitable contributions based on sales, tying specific products or sales amounts to tangible environmental impacts like planting trees or removing ocean plastic. It focuses on verifiable, measurable impact and provides tools for storytelling around those impacts to connect with customers.

Our Verdict
GoGenerosity - Donations is better suited for merchants who want to give their customers the option to donate directly to charities of the merchant's choice, or to create a unique 'donate to gift card' system. This offers a flexible approach for merchants that wish to support various causes. The low code implementation also means merchants can get set up with minimal fuss. Impact By Sale, meanwhile, is ideal for merchants who want a more automated, hands-off approach and are particularly focused on environmental impact. It is very attractive for socially conscious customers and employees. The clear, measurable impact (e.g. removing ocean plastic) and storytelling are more compelling, and potentially more persuasive, for customers who might not proactively donate themselves.
