GrootApps ‑ Custom Metafields vs Product Extra Infofor Shopify (2026)
Both GrootApps - Custom Metafields and Product Extra Info address the need for enhanced product information on Shopify stores via metafields, but they cater to different technical skill levels and business needs. Our Verdict
For merchants who need to manage a wide variety of custom data across their entire Shopify store and are comfortable with metafield configuration or have development resources, GrootApps - Custom Metafields offers a more robust and comprehensive solution. Its global configuration and data import/export features are valuable for complex data management needs. However, for merchants who only need to add custom fields to their products and prioritize ease of use and speed of implementation, Product Extra Info is the better choice. Its no-code, no-metafield-configuration approach and dynamic updates make it ideal for quickly adding specifications or extra information to product pages without requiring technical expertise. Given the lack of reviews for Product Extra Info, merchants should exercise caution and carefully evaluate whether it meets their specific needs before committing to it.
