Helpdesk + Live chat DeskXpand vs Live Chat & AI ChatGPT : Orkafor Shopify (2026)
In 2026, Shopify merchants seeking helpdesk solutions face the choice between DeskXpand and Orka. DeskXpand positions itself as a comprehensive, multi-channel helpdesk solution, emphasizing ticket management, automation, and a shared inbox for handling inquiries from various platforms like email, chat, social media, and even WhatsApp. It appears geared towards larger stores or those with higher support volumes, demanding a robust system for organization and efficiency. In contrast, Orka focuses on simplicity and immediate engagement. Its core value proposition lies in providing real-time live chat, aiming to convert website visitors into customers through instant support and product recommendations. DeskXpand's breadth of features suggests a steeper learning curve and more complex setup, potentially overwhelming smaller merchants. Orka, conversely, touts easy setup and a user-friendly interface embedded directly within the Shopify dashboard. The most significant difference lies in their scope: DeskXpand aims to be a complete helpdesk, while Orka concentrates on live chat as the primary interaction method. Further, DeskXpand highlights canned responses and FAQs as tools to improve agent productivity whereas Orka emphasizes instant connection and personalized assistance. The glaring difference in user reviews (0 for DeskXpand and 24 overwhelmingly positive for Orka) cannot be ignored and heavily influences initial perceptions.

Our Verdict
For smaller Shopify stores prioritizing immediate customer interaction and conversion through real-time chat, Orka appears to be the better choice due to its simplicity, ease of setup, and positive user reviews. The implied AI ChatGPT integration is also a significant plus. The immediate feedback and rapid support of Orka will likely suit these businesses more than the slower, often asynchronous, ticket-based support of DeskXpand, especially if support requests are simple and few.
DeskXpand, despite its lack of initial user reviews, could be a viable option for larger, more complex Shopify stores that manage a high volume of customer inquiries across multiple channels. The multi-channel support and focus on internal organization and automation may outweigh the potential difficulties in setup and configuration. However, given the lack of user feedback, prospective DeskXpand users should proceed with caution and thoroughly test the app before committing.
