Our Verdict
For merchants needing a comprehensive solution for bulk editing a wide range of Shopify data, including products, customers, orders and metafields, Hextom: Bulk Product Edit is the clear choice. Its high rating, large number of reviews, and extensive feature set point to a well-established and reliable solution. SKUGen is better suited for stores with growing catalogs that require robust SKU and barcode generation, and label printing capabilities. If your primary need revolves around managing SKUs, preventing duplicates, and printing barcode labels, SKUGen will be more beneficial, despite its lower rating and fewer reviews. The choice heavily depends on the specific operational challenges a merchant faces.
Common Questions
Which app is better for inventory management?
Neither app directly focuses on inventory management, but Hextom's bulk editing capabilities could be used to update inventory levels across multiple products. SKUGen focuses on barcode and SKU generation, which aids in inventory tracking but does not directly manage inventory levels.
Can I use both apps together?
Yes, they can be used together. SKUGen can generate SKUs, and then Hextom can bulk edit product information related to those SKUs or other aspects of those products.
Which app is easier to use for a beginner?
Hextom explicitly claims to be easy to use for people with or without technical skills. SKUGen does not make a similar claim, however the relatively narrow scope of the application may lead to a similar level of difficulty.
Which app offers better customer support?
Neither app provides any customer support information in the provided data. Hextom's higher rating and review count suggest a more established support system, but this is only speculation.
Does either app integrate with other Shopify apps?
SKUGen specifically mentions integration with Stocky for label printing from Stocky exports. Hextom does not mention specific integrations, but its CSV import/export functionality allows for integration with virtually any system that supports CSV format.
