Our Verdict
For merchants seeking a plug-and-play solution with a wide array of stock status options and proven results (as evidenced by the high rating and numerous reviews), Hey!Scarcity Low Stock Counter is the better choice. Its granular control over stock alerts and labels caters to a variety of inventory scenarios. However, if visual appeal and campaign-specific themes are a priority, and the merchant is willing to trade proven popularity for animation and holiday-themed customization, Urgency! Low stock counter could be a worthwhile consideration, especially if they have complex holiday marketing needs. The lower review count should be considered a risk factor.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up and configure?
Based on the descriptions, both appear relatively easy to set up. Hey!Scarcity highlights its ease of application to products and collections, while Urgency! emphasizes the ease of setting inventory thresholds. Without user testing, it's hard to say definitively, but Hey!Scarcity's higher rating and review count *suggest* easier setup or better documentation.
Which app offers more control over the specific text displayed?
Hey!Scarcity seems to offer more control over specific text. It mentions variations of labels like 'limited stock,' 'backorder,' and 'out of stock,' allowing merchants to choose the most appropriate message. Urgency! focuses more on the generic 'live inventory counter alert' without specifying customizable text variations.
Which app is more suitable for running holiday promotions?
Urgency! is explicitly designed for holiday promotions with its holiday presets for Christmas, BFCM, and Valentine's Day. Hey!Scarcity does not mention such specific holiday-related features, making Urgency! the clear winner for holiday campaigns.
Which app is better for merchants with a large number of products?
Hey!Scarcity, with its ability to apply stock status to all products or selected products and collections, is likely better suited for merchants with a large product catalog. The broad application features would save time compared to manually configuring each product.
Is one app more likely to negatively impact site speed?
Neither app explicitly addresses site speed. Both apps inject code into the product page, which *could* impact speed if poorly optimized. Without performance data, it's impossible to say which app has a lesser impact.
