Hobuy: Instant Auctions Hub vs MH Smart Size Price Calculatorfor Shopify (2026)
Hobuy: Instant Auctions Hub and MH Smart Size Price Calculator, while both falling under the 'Pricing quotes' category on Shopify, address vastly different merchant needs. Hobuy aims to inject urgency and excitement into the sales process with instant, in-cart auctions, positioning itself as an alternative to fixed discounts. It caters to merchants looking to maximize margins and provide a unique customer experience, emphasizing speed and minimal operational overhead. However, it suffers from a complete lack of user reviews, raising questions about its reliability and usability. MH Smart Size Price Calculator, on the other hand, focuses on providing accurate pricing for customizable products based on customer-defined dimensions. It allows customers to visualize their product before purchase, reducing potential returns and improving customer satisfaction. The core difference lies in their value proposition: Hobuy offers a dynamic pricing model aimed at maximizing profit through competition, while MH Smart Size Price Calculator provides accurate and transparent pricing for customized goods. Hobuy's target audience is likely merchants selling common goods who want to leverage auction dynamics for sales, while MH Smart Size Price Calculator is targeted at merchants selling customizable products like wallpaper, fabric, or windows where pricing is directly linked to dimensions and quantity. The lack of reviews for Hobuy is a major concern compared to the positive feedback for MH Smart Size Price Calculator.

Our Verdict
MH Smart Size Price Calculator is clearly the more reliable choice for merchants selling customizable products that require dimension-based pricing. Its positive reviews and focus on accuracy and visualization offer a strong value proposition. Hobuy, despite its potentially innovative auction approach, is a significantly riskier choice due to the complete absence of user reviews. Merchants drawn to the auction concept may consider it only after thorough independent testing and validation, but the current lack of social proof is a substantial drawback. Hobuy may be more suitable for a very specific subset of merchants seeking to test a unique, potentially high-risk, high-reward sales strategy.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
According to the descriptions, Hobuy boasts a very simple, one-step setup. However, MH Smart Size Price Calculator, while requiring tailoring, may offer more control over the pricing logic and visualization, potentially making setup more involved but ultimately more customizable.
Which app is better for increasing average order value?
Hobuy, with its auction format, potentially encourages competitive bidding and higher prices, potentially leading to a higher average order value. MH Smart Size Price Calculator focuses on accurate pricing for specific dimensions, which may not directly correlate with an increase in average order value.
Which app is more likely to reduce returns?
MH Smart Size Price Calculator is likely to reduce returns because it allows customers to visualize the customized product before purchase, ensuring they receive exactly what they expect. Hobuy doesn't directly address returns.
Which app offers a more traditional pricing approach?
MH Smart Size Price Calculator uses a traditional, formula-based pricing approach tied to dimensions or quantities, whereas Hobuy utilizes a dynamic, auction-based pricing strategy.
What is the biggest risk associated with using Hobuy?
The biggest risk associated with Hobuy is the complete lack of user reviews. This makes it impossible to verify the app's functionality, ease of use, or reliability. Merchants would essentially be beta-testing the app on their customers.
