HOOK Social Login vs OTP Login with Phonefor Shopify (2026)
HOOK Social Login and OTP Login with Phone both aim to streamline the login process for Shopify stores, but they approach it from different angles. HOOK focuses on social media logins, allowing customers to sign in with a single click using accounts like Gmail, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, and Apple. This eliminates the need for traditional account creation and passwords, aiming for a seamless user experience. It targets merchants looking to reduce friction in the signup process and leverage the convenience of existing social media profiles. The app also offers basic admin insights into new vs existing users. It presents itself as a quick and easy to install solution. OTP Login with Phone, on the other hand, emphasizes security and versatility by using one-time passwords (OTPs) delivered via phone number or email. It allows merchants to offer passwordless login via a phone number or email. It supports customizable settings for OTP expiry, resend limits, and account field requirements, offering greater control over the login process. OTP Login integrates with SMS providers and offers OTP prompts on checkout and 'buy now' buttons which offers additional placement flexibility. It caters to merchants who prioritize security and want the ability to gather phone numbers during signup. Both have high ratings, but OTP Login has more reviews suggesting it is more broadly adopted.

Our Verdict
If your primary goal is to offer the absolute quickest and easiest login experience and leverage social media profiles, HOOK Social Login is the better choice. It removes the signup process entirely, allowing customers to log in with a single click. However, if security and the ability to collect phone numbers are crucial, and you need more control over the login process, OTP Login with Phone is the superior option. OTP Login also provides checkout integration which is valuable if you want to reduce cart abandonment. Given the greater number of reviews for OTP login, it likely is a more mature and broadly adopted app.
