HOOK Social Login vs PayU CommercePro Checkoutfor Shopify (2026)
HOOK Social Login and PayU CommercePro Checkout are both Shopify apps aiming to improve the user experience related to accounts and login, but they approach this goal from different angles. HOOK Social Login focuses on simplifying the initial account creation and login process by allowing customers to use their existing social media accounts (Gmail, LinkedIn, X, Facebook, or Apple). This caters to merchants who want to remove friction at the start of the customer journey and offer a convenient, quick login option. PayU CommercePro Checkout, on the other hand, emphasizes streamlining the checkout process, particularly for returning customers. It uses OTP verification for login and focuses on pre-filling addresses to reduce the steps required for purchase. The primary difference lies in the customer journey stage they optimize. HOOK tackles the initial login hurdle, while PayU addresses the checkout process for existing users. HOOK Social Login appeals to merchants prioritizing ease of initial access, especially if they anticipate a large number of new customers. PayU CommercePro Checkout benefits merchants seeking to improve conversion rates by reducing checkout abandonment, potentially due to lengthy forms. The dramatic difference in ratings and review counts suggests HOOK Social Login is perceived more favorably by users, but more information about PayU's target geography would be needed to draw a complete conclusion.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily focused on attracting new customers and simplifying the initial signup process, HOOK Social Login is the clear choice. The 5/5 rating and 24 reviews suggest a positive user experience and reliable functionality. Its social login options cater to users accustomed to quick and easy account creation. PayU CommercePro Checkout, despite its promise of faster checkouts, suffers from a very low rating and limited reviews. It might be suitable for merchants specifically targeting users comfortable with OTP verification and prioritizing address pre-filling, but the current user feedback raises concerns about its overall quality and reliability. It's recommended PayU focus on improving the app and gathering user feedback before it can be confidently recommended.
