Howdy New Customer Profile vs Lyve: Shoppable Video & UGCfor Shopify (2026)
Howdy New Customer Profile and Lyve: Shoppable Video & UGC target drastically different aspects of the Shopify experience, despite both residing in the 'Content' category. Howdy New Customer Profile focuses on enhancing the new customer account profile page by allowing merchants to add and manage customer metafields and banner images directly. It appears geared towards merchants wanting greater control over the personalization and information displayed within a user's account, aiming for improved user experience and easier data management. This assumes the new Customer Accounts feature is the primary focus, since traditional accounts will likely be deprecated by 2026. Lyve: Shoppable Video & UGC, on the other hand, is a comprehensive video commerce platform designed to boost conversions and engagement through shoppable videos, user-generated content, and livestreaming events. It's aimed at merchants seeking to leverage video content across multiple channels, including their website, mobile app, emails, SMS, and even the Shop App. With features like AI-powered personalized video feeds and one-click checkout, Lyve targets merchants seeking to drive sales by making product discovery and purchase seamless through video.

Our Verdict
Lyve: Shoppable Video & UGC is the clear choice for merchants heavily invested in video marketing and seeking a comprehensive platform to manage and distribute shoppable video content across multiple channels. Its strong rating and positive reviews indicate a proven track record of success. However, the lack of reviews for Howdy New Customer Profile is concerning, suggesting that the app may not be widely adopted or could be very new. If the merchant prioritizes enhanced new customer account management and control over profile customization, Howdy New Customer Profile might be worth exploring, but they should proceed with caution due to the lack of social proof.
If a merchant is focused solely on improving the new customer account profile page and has a specific need for metafield customization, and they are willing to take a risk on a new app, Howdy New Customer Profile might be considered, but otherwise, Lyve: Shoppable Video & UGC offers a more proven and comprehensive solution for driving sales through content.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up and use?
Based on their descriptions, Howdy New Customer Profile *might* be easier to set up because it focuses on a single area (customer profiles). However, the lack of reviews makes it difficult to ascertain the truth. Lyve: Shoppable Video & UGC likely has a steeper learning curve due to its broader functionality across multiple channels.
Which app is better for increasing sales?
Lyve: Shoppable Video & UGC is designed specifically to increase sales through shoppable video and UGC. Its features like one-click checkout and personalized video feeds directly target conversions. Howdy New Customer Profile focuses on profile customization, which could indirectly impact sales through improved user experience but it is not the primary goal.
Which app integrates with more platforms?
Lyve: Shoppable Video & UGC explicitly mentions integration with TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Shop App, Tapcart, email, and SMS. Howdy New Customer Profile only mentions integrating with Shopify's new customer account's profile page and doesn't appear to have any other platform integrations.
Which app is better for personalized marketing?
Lyve: Shoppable Video & UGC has an AI-powered personalized video feed, making it inherently better suited for personalized marketing based on customer interests. Howdy New Customer Profile is not directly focused on personalization beyond allowing metafields to be displayed.
Is Howdy New Customer Profile potentially worth trying despite the lack of reviews?
Possibly, *if* the merchant has a very specific and pressing need to customize the new customer profile page using metafields and banner images. However, the risk of encountering bugs or poor support is higher with an unrated app. Thoroughly test the app in a staging environment before deploying it to a live store. Check for recent updates or any signs of active development. Look for mentions of the app on forums or social media for any clues about its reliability.
