Hulk Custom Fields vs Mport ‑ Bulk Metafield Importfor Shopify (2026)
Hulk Custom Fields and Mport ‑ Bulk Metafield Import are both Shopify apps focusing on metafield management, but they cater to different user needs. Hulk Custom Fields aims to provide a comprehensive content and metafield management solution with a user-friendly interface, focusing on personalization and dynamic logic. Its broader feature set includes functionalities beyond bulk import/export, such as storefront API exposure and a bulk delete feature for cleanup. Mport ‑ Bulk Metafield Import, on the other hand, specifically targets merchants needing efficient bulk management of product metafields via CSV files. Its strength lies in its simplified approach to importing and exporting metafields using product SKUs or handles. Notably, Mport emphasizes its compatibility with standard Shopify product import CSV structures, easing the setup process. The substantial difference in user ratings and review counts suggests a significant disparity in user satisfaction and app maturity. Hulk Custom Fields, with a 4.5/5 rating based on 61 reviews, indicates a proven track record and positive user experiences. In contrast, Mport ‑ Bulk Metafield Import's lack of ratings and reviews presents a higher risk for merchants considering it, as there's no user feedback available to validate its claims or usability. Therefore, evaluating which is the right one depends strongly on how many other functionalities besides bulk import/export are needed.

Our Verdict
For merchants seeking a comprehensive metafield and content management solution with advanced features like dynamic logic and storefront API exposure, Hulk Custom Fields is the clear choice, supported by a solid rating and positive reviews. Its broader functionality makes it suitable for stores looking to deeply customize their product pages and overall shopping experience.
However, if a merchant's primary need is simply bulk importing and exporting product metafields using CSV files, and especially if they are already comfortable with the Shopify product import CSV format, Mport ‑ Bulk Metafield Import might seem appealing, despite the lack of reviews. Its SKU and Handle-based import/export functionality can streamline product data updates. However, it's essential to acknowledge the risk associated with using an app with no user validation. Proceed with caution and thoroughly test its functionality before relying on it for critical data management.
