ILS: Indian Logistics Services vs Shield Shipping Protectionfor Shopify (2026)
ILS: Indian Logistics Services and Shield Shipping Protection both aim to improve the post-purchase experience for Shopify merchants, but address completely different needs. ILS: Indian Logistics Services is a comprehensive shipping solution specifically tailored for Indian merchants, focusing on streamlining logistics processes through integration with multiple Indian carriers, automated AWB generation, and return management. Shield Shipping Protection, on the other hand, focuses on revenue generation and margin protection by allowing merchants to offer shipping protection to their customers and retain the collected fees. While ILS is operational and focused on the physical movement of goods, Shield is financial and aimed at mitigating losses due to shipping issues while creating a new revenue stream. ILS provides tools for managing shipping workflows, including printing invoices, generating manifests, and sending email notifications. This app is feature-rich, addressing nearly every aspect of Indian-based e-commerce logistics. Shield, in contrast, presents a simple, revenue-focused approach, embedding directly into the cart and checkout process. Its core value proposition lies in offsetting the cost of lost or damaged shipments and keeping the collected protection fees. The apps are targeted toward distinct merchant profiles: ILS targets merchants in India dealing with significant shipping volume and complexity, and Shield targets merchants worldwide looking to increase revenue, AOV, and minimize losses from shipping issues.
