ILS: Indian Logistics Services vs Shippo ‑ Simplified Shippingfor Shopify (2026)
ILS: Indian Logistics Services and Shippo ‑ Simplified Shipping are both Shopify apps designed to streamline the shipping process, but they cater to different merchant segments. ILS focuses specifically on the Indian market, integrating with 10 leading Indian logistics services like Delhivery, Bluedart, and IndiaPost. Its strength lies in its deep integration with local carriers, GST-enabled invoicing, and return request management tailored for the Indian e-commerce landscape. ILS seems to be optimized for merchants already familiar with, or committed to using, these Indian carriers. Shippo, on the other hand, positions itself as a more globally-focused shipping platform, offering discounted rates and integration with major international carriers like USPS, UPS, and DHL Express. While it lacks the specific Indian carrier integration of ILS, its broader carrier network, automated international paperwork, and larger user base (as indicated by the higher number of reviews) make it appealing to merchants shipping internationally or those seeking broader carrier choice and better rates. The descriptions suggest ILS is focusing on easing the specific processes needed to ship within India, while Shippo is focusing on global options and volume discounts.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily shipping within India using established Indian logistics providers, ILS: Indian Logistics Services offers a more tailored solution with features like GST invoicing and return request management designed for the Indian market. Its high rating, although based on fewer reviews, suggests a strong focus on meeting the specific needs of Indian e-commerce.
Shippo ‑ Simplified Shipping is better suited for merchants shipping internationally, requiring broader carrier selection, and seeking discounted rates from major global carriers. While its rating is lower, the significantly higher number of reviews suggests a more established and widely-used platform. If the priority is scaling shipping operations globally and securing competitive rates, Shippo is the better choice. A merchant shipping both domestically within India and internationally may need to consider using both apps or seek alternative solutions providing integration with both local Indian carriers and broader global options.
Common Questions
Which app is better for a small business in India?
If the small business exclusively ships within India using the carriers listed in ILS, then ILS is likely a better fit due to its specific integration and features like GST invoicing. However, Shippo might be preferable if they anticipate international expansion or require access to carriers not supported by ILS.
Does Shippo support GST invoicing for Indian shipments?
The description of Shippo does not explicitly mention GST invoicing capabilities. ILS specifically highlights this as a key feature, suggesting it may be a unique advantage for Indian merchants using ILS.
Which app offers better tracking capabilities?
Both apps mention real-time tracking. However, Shippo highlights 'automated, branded tracking notifications', suggesting a more customizable and feature-rich tracking experience for customers.
Can I use both apps simultaneously?
While technically possible to use both apps, it would likely lead to a fragmented workflow. Merchants should evaluate their shipping needs and choose the app that best aligns with their primary shipping strategy and target market. It's likely more efficient to choose one platform and adapt processes accordingly.
Which app is easier to set up and use?
Without hands-on experience, it's difficult to definitively say. However, Shippo's description emphasizes 'intuitive dashboard', suggesting a focus on user-friendliness. The best approach would be to leverage any free trials or demo options to evaluate ease of use firsthand.
