ILS: Indian Logistics Services vs Spring GDSfor Shopify (2026)
ILS: Indian Logistics Services and Spring GDS are shipping apps targeting fundamentally different markets. ILS focuses solely on the Indian domestic market, providing integrations with a multitude of local carriers like Delhivery, Bluedart, DTDC, and IndiaPost. It emphasizes streamlining the shipping process for Indian merchants, offering features like GST-enabled invoice templates, bulk order processing, and return request management, all tailored to the specific needs of selling within India. Spring GDS, on the other hand, is geared towards international e-commerce, offering access to a network of reliable international carriers and facilitating cross-border trade. Our Verdict
Choosing between ILS and Spring GDS depends entirely on your target market. If you're an Indian merchant primarily selling within India, ILS is the clear winner due to its deep integrations with local carriers and features tailored for the Indian market, such as GST-enabled invoicing. The strong user reviews further support its reliability. However, if you're looking to expand your business internationally, Spring GDS, backed by PostNL, provides the necessary infrastructure and carrier network for global e-commerce. While it lacks initial reviews, its focus on cross-border trade makes it the more suitable option for merchants targeting international customers.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Without user experience data, this is difficult to definitively answer. However, ILS's focus on the Indian market might suggest a simpler setup for Indian businesses familiar with local logistics processes. Spring GDS's broader scope could potentially involve a more complex setup.
Which app offers better tracking capabilities?
Both apps offer real-time tracking. ILS focuses on tracking within India. Spring GDS's international focus suggests a robust international tracking system. The 'better' app depends on where the packages are being shipped.
Does ILS handle international shipping at all?
Based on the description, ILS primarily focuses on domestic Indian logistics services. There is no indication of international shipping support in the provided app description. Therefore, it is unlikely to handle international shipping effectively.
Which app is likely to have a higher cost?
Without pricing information, it's impossible to say for sure. Spring GDS's international service and broader network might suggest a potentially higher cost structure, but ILS might charge more for certain premium features. Further research is needed to compare the pricing models.
Which app is more suitable for a dropshipping business?
The suitability depends on the dropshipping model. If the supplier is based in India and ships domestically, ILS would be the preferred choice. If the supplier is international and ships directly to customers worldwide, Spring GDS is the better option.
