im•api (catalog) vs Merges AI ‑ Merge Productsfor Shopify (2026)
Both im•api (catalog) and Merges AI - Merge Products boast perfect 5/5 ratings, however, they cater to fundamentally different needs within the Shopify ecosystem. im•api (catalog) focuses on the *ingestion* of product data, primarily from CSV files or ERP vendors. Its strength lies in its ability to handle large catalogs with full metafield, variant, and image support, coupled with Liquid templating for customization. It targets merchants with complex product data residing in external sources requiring import, especially those needing granular control over data transformation during the import process. Merges AI - Merge Products, on the other hand, addresses the *organization* of existing product data within Shopify. Using AI, it combines separate products into unified listings with native variants, simplifying product management and improving the customer experience. It prioritizes preserving SEO and existing data integrity (collections, tags, SKUs) during the merge. This app targets merchants struggling with duplicate listings or wanting to consolidate fragmented product information into single, well-organized listings, improving product discoverability and administrative efficiency. The core difference lies in whether you need to add products to Shopify (im•api) or organize products already present (Merges AI).
