Infinite Product Options vs Variant Description OMGfor Shopify (2026)
Infinite Product Options and Variant Description OMG both address the "Custom products" and "Product variants" categories within the Shopify ecosystem, but they cater to vastly different needs. Infinite Product Options, boasting a 4.7/5 rating based on nearly 2000 reviews, is geared towards merchants seeking to offer highly customizable products. Its strength lies in its extensive array of option types, from text inputs and dropdowns to color swatches and date pickers, allowing for intricate personalization. This app excels at enabling merchants to offer add-ons and conditional logic, driving average order value and creating a tailored shopping experience. Its nine-year history and claimed USA-based support suggest a mature and reliable product. Variant Description OMG, in contrast, focuses on clarifying complex product offerings with a focus on different descriptions for product variants. While it has a higher rating (4.9/5), it's based on a significantly smaller number of reviews (69). Its value proposition centers around improved product clarity and reduced customer support inquiries by providing detailed descriptions and even metafields for each variant. It caters to merchants dealing with products where variations differ significantly in specifications, shipping times, materials, or bundled configurations. The claim of easy installation for both Online Store 2.0 and Legacy themes is another attractive feature, aimed to reduce the tech investment.
