Intuitive Shipping vs what3words Address Fieldfor Shopify (2026)
Intuitive Shipping and what3words Address Field, while both falling under the 'Delivery and pickup' category on Shopify, serve vastly different purposes. Intuitive Shipping focuses on providing merchants with comprehensive and highly customizable shipping rate management, tackling complex shipping scenarios and offering features such as conditional rate display, granular pricing control, and smart boxing. Its positioning is aimed at stores that have outgrown basic shipping options and need a more tailored, brand-aligned checkout experience. They even offer onboarding support. In contrast, what3words Address Field is a niche app addressing a specific pain point: inaccurate delivery locations. By enabling customers to provide precise delivery addresses using the what3words system, the app aims to reduce lost parcels, decrease delivery admin time, and improve customer satisfaction. Its core strength lies in its ability to pinpoint exact locations, particularly useful in areas with poor or ambiguous traditional addressing. The target audience is businesses experiencing difficulties with last-mile delivery precision, potentially in rural or complex urban environments.

Our Verdict
For Shopify merchants seeking comprehensive control over their shipping rates and checkout experience, Intuitive Shipping is the clear choice. Its extensive features, positive user reviews, and available onboarding support make it suitable for businesses with complex shipping requirements and a focus on brand experience. The app's strength lies in its ability to handle a wide range of shipping scenarios and to optimize shipping costs.
what3words Address Field is a more specialized tool, ideal for businesses specifically facing challenges with last-mile delivery due to inaccurate or ambiguous addresses. If delivery issues and customer complaints stemming from this are a recurring problem, then what3words is a worthwhile investment. However, if shipping rates, rules, and checkout experience are the primary concern, Intuitive Shipping offers significantly more value.
