Intuitive Shipping vs ZIP Lock ‑ Restrict ZIP Codesfor Shopify (2026)
Intuitive Shipping and ZIP Lock ‑ Restrict ZIP Codes are both Shopify apps focused on aspects of delivery and pickup, but they address very different needs and target distinct merchant profiles. Intuitive Shipping aims to provide highly flexible and customized shipping rate calculations and checkout experiences, catering to businesses with complex shipping requirements and a desire for branded checkout options. In contrast, ZIP Lock ‑ Restrict ZIP Codes focuses solely on restricting product availability based on customer ZIP codes or states to prevent invalid orders. It's designed for merchants who have outgrown basic Shopify shipping and require granular control over rates, conditions, and the checkout experience. ZIP Lock ‑ Restrict ZIP Codes is a much simpler app, targeting merchants who need to limit product sales to specific geographic areas due to legal restrictions, inventory limitations, or other business constraints. Our Verdict
Intuitive Shipping is the clear choice for merchants seeking comprehensive control over their shipping rates and checkout experience. Its robust feature set, emphasis on customer support, and focus on branding make it ideal for businesses with complex shipping needs and a desire to optimize checkout conversions. The lower rating on ZIP Lock may not signal a major issue given the small sample size, but that fact alone makes Intuitive Shipping more of a known commodity.
ZIP Lock ‑ Restrict ZIP Codes is best suited for merchants with a very specific and limited requirement: restricting product sales based on geographic location. Its simplicity and ease of use make it a good option for businesses that don't need a full-fledged shipping solution but need to comply with regulations or manage regional inventory constraints. If your needs are simply restricting shipping regions, this app is more targeted and efficient than a broader shipping app like Intuitive Shipping.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
ZIP Lock ‑ Restrict ZIP Codes is likely easier to set up due to its simpler functionality and UI extensions, which don't require theme changes. Intuitive Shipping requires onboarding and configuration due to its complexity.
Can I use both apps together?
Potentially, but with caution. ZIP Lock restricts who can buy what, while Intuitive Shipping dictates *how* products are shipped and the cost. Using them together requires careful planning to avoid conflicting rules. You may want to consider only using Intutive shipping because it offers enough restrictions and parameters without the added friction of a different app that may need to be debugged separately.
Which app is better for improving checkout conversion rates?
Intuitive Shipping is likely better for improving checkout conversion rates as it allows for branded checkout experiences, custom rate naming, and descriptive text to clarify shipping options. ZIP Lock focuses on restriction, which could potentially decrease conversion rates if customers are unexpectedly blocked from purchasing.
Which app is better for businesses with complex shipping rules?
Intuitive Shipping is designed for businesses with complex shipping rules, offering over 40 conditions to control rate visibility. ZIP Lock is not designed for complex shipping logic.
Does ZIP Lock work for international shipping?
Yes, ZIP Lock works for international shipping because it can restrict based on state/province, effectively allowing for restriction by country depending on how a store's back end settings are configured. Intuitive Shipping also supports international shipping with more robust options.
