IP Moat ‑ Counterfeit Defence vs SpyBlocker – Block Competitorsfor Shopify (2026)
IP Moat ‑ Counterfeit Defence and SpyBlocker – Block Competitors both aim to protect Shopify stores from malicious activity, but they approach the problem from different angles. IP Moat focuses explicitly on counterfeit prevention, implicitly targeting merchants concerned about brand protection and intellectual property theft. SpyBlocker, on the other hand, offers a broader range of features aimed at blocking competitors, bots, scrapers, and other unwanted visitors, appealing to merchants seeking comprehensive website security. However, IP Moat has a perfect 5/5 rating based on 3 reviews, while SpyBlocker has no reviews and thus a 0/5 rating, making IP Moat immediately more credible. While both apps fall under the "Anti theft" category, their feature sets differ significantly. SpyBlocker offers specific blocking capabilities such as restricting access by IP address, region, and User-Agent, as well as preventing actions like text selection, copying, and access to developer tools. IP Moat's specific features aren't disclosed, but its name implies a focus on counterfeit defence. The lack of reviews for SpyBlocker is a major drawback, leaving merchants uncertain about its effectiveness and reliability.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily concerned with preventing counterfeiting and protecting their intellectual property, IP Moat ‑ Counterfeit Defence might be the better choice, especially given its positive reviews. However, the limited information available about its specific features makes it difficult to provide a definitive recommendation.
If a merchant is looking for a broader approach to website security, aiming to block competitors, bots, and prevent content theft through disabling copying and restricting access, SpyBlocker – Block Competitors seems promising *in theory*. However, the complete absence of reviews makes it a risky choice. Merchants should proceed with caution and ideally wait for user feedback before committing to SpyBlocker.
