Jataí Custom Order & Checkout vs Proveway PayPal Tracking Syncfor Shopify (2026)
Jataí Custom Order & Checkout and Proveway PayPal Tracking Sync both fall under the 'Orders' category on Shopify, but they serve vastly different purposes. Jataí focuses on customizing the order and checkout process by allowing merchants to create custom fields and apply rules. Its strength lies in streamlining data collection, reducing manual errors, and facilitating integrations with systems like ERP and logistics. This targets merchants seeking to optimize their order fulfillment workflow and reduce operational overhead. Proveway, on the other hand, specializes in automatically syncing tracking information from Shopify to PayPal. Its primary goal is to improve trust with PayPal, reduce the likelihood of funds being held, and enable PayPal Seller Protection. This caters specifically to merchants who rely heavily on PayPal for payments and are concerned about payment disputes and reserve holds. The core difference lies in their focus: Jataí is about order data management and integration, while Proveway is about PayPal payment processing and risk mitigation.

Our Verdict
The choice between Jataí Custom Order & Checkout and Proveway PayPal Tracking Sync depends entirely on the merchant's specific needs. If the merchant is struggling with collecting specific order information, requires custom data fields for fulfillment or integration with other systems, and wants to automate error correction, then Jataí is the better option.
However, if the merchant primarily uses PayPal, faces frequent payment holds or disputes, and needs an automated solution to sync tracking information to PayPal to unlock seller protections, then Proveway is the clearly superior choice. For merchants who experience both sets of problems, evaluating if the cost of both apps would be justified is recommended.
Common Questions
Can Jataí help me reduce PayPal holds?
Indirectly, perhaps. By ensuring accurate order information and delivery details, Jataí could potentially reduce disputes that lead to PayPal holds. However, it does not directly sync tracking information like Proveway does, which is the primary mechanism for PayPal to verify successful deliveries and avoid holds.
Does Proveway allow me to add custom fields to my orders?
No, Proveway focuses exclusively on syncing tracking information to PayPal. It does not offer any functionality for adding custom fields to orders. Jataí is the app for custom order fields.
Is Jataí difficult to set up and use?
The description suggests that Jataí aims for 'simplified integration'. However, creating custom rules and fields might require some technical knowledge or familiarity with the app's interface. The review count is low so it is difficult to accurately gauge this.
What level of coding knowledge is required to use either app?
Proveway seems like a no-code solution focused on automatic syncing. Jataí might require some understanding of how to set up rules and customize fields, but the app description focuses on 'simplified integration', which suggests a no-code, or low-code, experience.
Which app provides better support for international e-commerce?
Jataí, with its focus on localization through address separation and delivery details, seems more suitable for international e-commerce as it addresses the need for custom fields required in some countries. Proveway's benefits related to PayPal trust and reduced hold times would be similar whether you are selling locally or internationally.
