Kangaroo: Loyalty and Rewards vs Shopney ‑ Mobile App Builderfor Shopify (2026)
Kangaroo: Loyalty and Rewards and Shopney ‑ Mobile App Builder, while both listed under the 'Customer Loyalty' category on Shopify, address vastly different aspects of customer retention and engagement. Kangaroo focuses on building a robust loyalty program directly within the existing Shopify store. It emphasizes customization, personalization, and omnichannel communication to encourage repeat purchases and brand advocacy. Shopney, on the other hand, aims to create a dedicated mobile app experience for Shopify stores, improving shopping speed and providing targeted push notifications to increase sales and retention. The core difference lies in their approach: Kangaroo enhances the existing web storefront with a rewards program, whereas Shopney creates a separate mobile app channel. Kangaroo's strength is in its ability to deeply integrate loyalty mechanics into the brand's existing online presence. Shopney's value proposition is providing a faster, app-native experience with push notification capabilities, thereby cutting down on expensive ad spend. Kangaroo seems suited for merchants who prioritize retaining customers through a well-structured, customizable loyalty system, while Shopney targets merchants looking to expand to mobile and tap into the power of push notifications and app-based shopping.

Our Verdict
For merchants who are primarily concerned with deepening customer loyalty and rewarding repeat purchases through a structured program within their existing online store, Kangaroo: Loyalty and Rewards is the more suitable choice. Its focus on customization and multi-channel communication allows for targeted engagement. However, merchants looking to expand their reach into the mobile app space and leverage push notifications for direct customer engagement will find Shopney ‑ Mobile App Builder a compelling solution.
Shopney's ease of use and emphasis on a faster mobile shopping experience makes it ideal for stores seeking to capture the growing mobile commerce market. While both apps aim to improve customer retention, they achieve this through different channels and strategies. Consider your target audience and resource allocation when deciding between the two.
Common Questions
Which app requires more technical expertise to set up and manage?
Based on the descriptions, Shopney appears to be easier to set up, requiring "one-click" app creation with no coding. Kangaroo, while not explicitly stating technical requirements, implies a need for careful program configuration and customization, suggesting more effort is needed.
Which app is better for driving immediate sales?
Shopney, with its focus on push notifications and a faster mobile shopping experience, is likely better for driving immediate sales. Push notifications can be used to promote flash sales and special offers directly to app users.
Which app is more focused on building long-term customer relationships?
Kangaroo: Loyalty and Rewards is more focused on building long-term customer relationships. Its core functionality revolves around creating a loyalty program with points, rewards, and VIP tiers designed to incentivize repeat purchases and foster brand loyalty.
Which app provides more comprehensive customer support?
Shopney explicitly mentions "one-of-a-kind customer support." Kangaroo doesn't specify the level of support offered. Based on the descriptions, Shopney seems to prioritize customer support more prominently.
Can these apps be used together?
While not explicitly stated, it is *possible* to use both apps together. A merchant could use Kangaroo to manage their loyalty program within their web store and Shopney to create a mobile app. The loyalty program could potentially integrate into the app (depending on Shopney's integration capabilities, which the product description does mention). However, this setup would require careful planning to ensure a consistent customer experience across both platforms.
