Kim: AI Helpdesk & live chat vs Notch – Customer Support Suitefor Shopify (2026)
Kim: AI Helpdesk & live chat and Notch – Customer Support Suite both aim to improve customer support for Shopify merchants in 2026, but they take fundamentally different approaches. Kim positions itself as a free, easy-to-setup helpdesk solution leveraging AI to assist merchants in managing customer inquiries directly. It emphasizes features like unified customer data, AI-assisted drafting, and multi-channel support integration. This makes it a good option for merchants looking for a hands-on solution they can implement and manage themselves without significant upfront cost. Notch, on the other hand, offers a full-service customer support solution where the company handles the entire support operation using a combination of AI and human experts. This "done-for-you" approach is aimed at merchants seeking to completely offload their customer support responsibilities and focus on other aspects of their business. The focus is on enhanced customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and data-driven insights to fuel business growth. The key differentiator is the outsourcing of the entire customer support function, rather than providing tools for merchants to manage it themselves.

Our Verdict
Choosing between Kim and Notch depends heavily on the merchant's preference for managing customer support. Kim is a strong choice for businesses that want to retain control over their support operations, leveraging AI tools to enhance efficiency and quality. Its free offering makes it especially attractive for startups and smaller businesses with budget constraints.
Notch, conversely, is best suited for larger or rapidly growing businesses that prioritize outsourcing customer support entirely. If the business has the resources and needs to free up internal teams from customer service responsibilities, Notch's full-service solution provides a comprehensive, hands-off approach that can scale with their growth. The decision comes down to whether the merchant wants a powerful tool to manage support themselves or a complete outsourcing solution to remove the burden of customer service altogether.
