Our Verdict
Kintsugi Sales Tax Automation is the safer choice for merchants seeking a well-regarded, hands-off solution for managing sales tax. Its strong rating and positive reviews suggest reliability and ease of use. It's best suited for businesses that prioritize automation and peace of mind. Price Before & After Tax, while unproven, offers a potentially valuable set of features for merchants who want greater control over how taxes are displayed to their customers. It is best suited for businesses that require highly customized tax visibility and are willing to take a risk on a new app to achieve that level of control. If VAT is a critical element, Price Before & After Tax is likely the better choice, but requires careful consideration given its lack of reviews.
Common Questions
Which app is better for VAT compliance?
Price Before & After Tax explicitly addresses VAT and allows for showing prices including or excluding VAT. Kintsugi Sales Tax Automation does not explicitly mention VAT, but might handle it as part of its broader sales tax automation. If VAT customization is key, Price Before & After Tax is probably better, but Kintsugi might provide a complete, if less tailored, solution.
Which app is easier to set up?
Based on the available information, Kintsugi Sales Tax Automation is likely easier to set up, given its focus on automation and positive reviews suggesting ease of use. Price Before & After Tax, with its emphasis on customization and rule creation, likely requires more configuration.
Which app is more trustworthy?
Kintsugi Sales Tax Automation is clearly more trustworthy, boasting a perfect 5/5 rating from 21 reviews. Price Before & After Tax has no reviews, making its reliability unknown.
Which app is better for showing prices including and excluding taxes?
Price Before & After Tax is explicitly designed for showing prices both including and excluding taxes on product and listing pages. Kintsugi's focus is broader sales tax automation, suggesting it might handle this implicitly, but it is not a primary feature as advertised.
Which app is better for a business operating in multiple countries with different tax laws?
While both apps might be able to handle multiple countries, Price Before & After Tax appears to offer more granular control over tax display in desired countries via rules based on location. Without more info, Kintsugi's handling of multi-country taxation is less clear.
