Kip: Sort Hide Payment Methods vs Upcart—Cart Drawer Cart Upsellfor Shopify (2026)
Kip: Sort Hide Payment Methods and Upcart—Cart Drawer Cart Upsell are both Shopify apps focused on improving the checkout and cart experience, but they target different aspects of the purchase funnel. Kip focuses on optimizing the payment gateway selection process, allowing merchants to tailor payment method visibility based on various conditions. This helps streamline checkout and potentially reduce abandonment by prioritizing preferred methods or hiding irrelevant ones. Upcart, on the other hand, concentrates on enhancing the cart itself, transforming it into a revenue-generating opportunity with upsells, cross-sells, and design customization. It aims to increase average order value (AOV) and reduce cart abandonment through strategically placed offers and a visually appealing cart experience. Kip appeals to merchants who want granular control over payment method visibility based on customer characteristics, order details, or location. Its strength lies in its conditional logic and ability to streamline the payment selection process. Upcart is geared towards DTC brands, particularly in fashion, food & beverage, and beauty, that want to maximize AOV by leveraging in-cart marketing and creating a branded cart experience. Its strength is its robust customization options and focus on driving revenue through strategic offers. The substantial difference in the number of reviews suggests Upcart has a larger user base and potentially broader applicability, although Kip's slightly higher rating indicates strong satisfaction amongst its users.

Common Questions
Which app is easier to use?
It is difficult to say for certain without user reviews explicitly comparing ease of use. However, given the complexity of conditional logic in Kip, Upcart's visual design and drag-and-drop interface are possibly more intuitive for most users. It would be worthwhile to check recent app reviews for specific feedback on ease of use.
Which app is better for reducing cart abandonment?
Both apps can contribute to reducing cart abandonment, but in different ways. Kip does so by ensuring customers only see relevant payment options and that preferred methods are prioritized, streamlining the checkout process. Upcart reduces cart abandonment through incentives like free shipping goals, in-cart discounts, and a more engaging, customized cart experience. Upcart's direct focus on cart features makes it likely to have a greater impact on cart abandonment.
Which app has a higher return on investment (ROI)?
ROI depends on the specific implementation and your store's characteristics. Kip's ROI is tied to improved conversion rates through streamlined payment options, while Upcart's ROI comes from increased AOV and reduced cart abandonment. A store with a confusing array of payment options will likely see a greater ROI from Kip. A store with low AOV and high cart abandonment will likely see a greater ROI from Upcart.
Can I use both Kip and Upcart together?
Yes, Kip and Upcart can be used together. They address different aspects of the checkout and cart experience and do not directly conflict. Using them in combination would allow for a fully optimized experience from product selection to payment processing.
