Kite Discount, Free Gift, BOGO vs Moon Bundle & Upsellfor Shopify (2026)
Both Kite Discount, Free Gift, BOGO and Moon Bundle & Upsell are highly rated (5/5) Shopify apps designed to increase sales through discounts and offers. However, they target slightly different aspects of the customer journey and employ distinct strategies. Kite focuses primarily on direct discounts, free gifts triggered by cart conditions, and BOGO offers, with a strong emphasis on progress bars to encourage larger purchases. A key differentiator is Kite's aim to replace Shopify Scripts with custom discount functions. Moon Bundle & Upsell, on the other hand, is geared towards creating comprehensive sales funnels by bundling products, optimizing the cart drawer experience, and implementing post-purchase upsells. It aims to boost Average Order Value (AOV) through strategic product combinations and upselling opportunities throughout the buyer's journey.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily focused on straightforward discounts, free gifts, and BOGO offers triggered by cart subtotal or quantity, Kite Discount, Free Gift, BOGO is the stronger choice. Its progress bar feature is particularly effective in motivating customers to add more items to their cart. Additionally, merchants seeking to migrate away from Shopify Scripts may find Kite advantageous. However, if the goal is to build a complete, conversion-optimized sales funnel, especially with bundling and post-purchase upsells, Moon Bundle & Upsell is the superior option. It provides a more holistic approach to increasing AOV across the entire customer journey.
