Our Verdict
If a merchant's primary goal is to directly incentivize customer actions with tangible rewards and they need flexibility in defining cashback rates for different products or customer segments, Koin Cashback & Store Credit is the better choice. Its support for Shopify Plus and D2C/B2B scenarios makes it particularly appealing for larger businesses. However, if a merchant is focused on providing a superior mobile shopping experience, reducing reliance on social media advertising, and leveraging push notifications for engagement, Shopney - Mobile App Builder is the stronger option. The significant difference in review count also suggests a more established user base and potentially wider community support for Shopney.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Shopney is likely easier to set up initially due to its "one-click" app building promise, requiring no coding. Koin requires setting cashback rates and defining reward rules, which might involve more configuration.
Which app is better for a Shopify Plus store?
Koin explicitly mentions support for Shopify Plus B2B scenarios, making it potentially a better fit for businesses needing to manage store credit for company locations. Shopney could still be valuable for Plus stores looking to improve the mobile shopping experience, but Koin's B2B features provide a distinct advantage.
Which app focuses more on marketing?
Both apps offer marketing benefits. Koin focuses on marketing through rewards and incentives, while Shopney uses push notifications and improved mobile experience to reduce ad spend and improve customer engagement.
Which app is better for customer support?
Shopney explicitly highlights "one-of-a-kind customer support," suggesting a potentially stronger focus on assisting merchants compared to Koin, where support is not specifically mentioned, although high ratings suggest it is adequate.
Can these apps be used together?
Yes, they could potentially be used together. Shopney can provide a better mobile shopping experience, while Koin can incentivize customers to make purchases through the mobile app with store credit rewards. The integration capabilities of Shopney with other Shopify apps could be leveraged to connect these two apps indirectly if specific integrations are available.
