Koin Cashback & Store Credit vs TryOnify: Try Before You Buyfor Shopify (2026)
Koin Cashback & Store Credit and TryOnify: Try Before You Buy are both Shopify apps with perfect 5/5 ratings, but they address drastically different needs. Koin focuses on post-purchase engagement, aiming to increase customer retention and repeat purchases through cashback and store credit programs. It's a loyalty and marketing tool. TryOnify, on the other hand, tackles pre-purchase hesitations by offering a "Try Now, Pay Later" model, deferring payments during a trial period to encourage initial purchases and reduce cart abandonment. Koin's strength lies in its comprehensive loyalty and reward system, offering granular control over cashback rates, automation through Shopify Flow, and seamless integration with Shopify's native store credit system. It supports both D2C and B2B customers, especially those on Shopify Plus. TryOnify's appeal lies in its simplicity and immediate impact on conversion rates, addressing cart abandonment issues directly with a unique payment deferral system. Its key benefit is enabling customers to try products before committing to a purchase, effectively reducing perceived risk. TryOnify's setup is described as quick and easy and doesn't charge merchants with usage-based tax. Both apps aim to increase revenue but employ different strategies: Koin through loyalty and repeat purchases and TryOnify through initial acquisition and reduced cart abandonment.

Our Verdict
Choosing between Koin and TryOnify depends heavily on the merchant's primary goals. If the primary focus is to improve customer loyalty, increase repeat purchases, and create a robust reward system, Koin Cashback & Store Credit is the better option. Its detailed features and integration with Shopify's store credit make it a powerful tool for long-term customer engagement, especially beneficial for merchants targeting both D2C and B2B.
However, if the immediate challenge is high cart abandonment rates and a need to acquire new customers more effectively, TryOnify: Try Before You Buy is the superior choice. The "Try Now, Pay Later" model directly addresses customer hesitancy and allows merchants to offer a risk-free shopping experience. While it has fewer reviews than Koin, its core value proposition is compelling for businesses prioritizing initial customer acquisition. For brands selling goods (clothing, etc) this becomes even more important.
Common Questions
