Latch ‑ Restricted Products vs miniOrange Single Sign On‑SSOfor Shopify (2026)
Latch ‑ Restricted Products and miniOrange Single Sign On‑SSO both aim to improve the security of Shopify stores but address different needs. Latch ‑ Restricted Products, based on its name, likely focuses on restricting access to specific products, potentially for wholesale customers or employee-only items. miniOrange Single Sign On‑SSO, on the other hand, delivers a comprehensive Single Sign-On solution for both B2C and B2B stores, simplifying login processes for customers by allowing them to use existing credentials from various Identity Providers (IdPs) like Azure AD, Okta, or even Shopify itself. miniOrange Single Sign On‑SSO boasts significantly more reviews (49) than Latch ‑ Restricted Products (2), suggesting greater adoption and potentially more real-world testing. miniOrange also offers a broader range of features, including user attribute syncing, single logout functionality, and support for legacy accounts and multiple stores. While both apps have perfect ratings, the higher review count for miniOrange lends more credibility to its rating. The miniOrange offering appears to cater to larger merchants and Shopify Plus customers needing advanced authentication features and integrations with existing identity management systems, while Latch may suit smaller businesses needing simple product access restrictions. The unified login across multiple platforms offered by miniOrange is a key differentiator that Latch doesn't seem to provide.

Our Verdict
For Shopify merchants requiring a comprehensive single sign-on solution, especially those managing B2B or larger B2C operations with multiple stores or platforms, miniOrange Single Sign On‑SSO is the clear choice. Its extensive IdP integration, user management capabilities, and support for various authentication methods offer a robust and scalable solution. The significant number of reviews provides greater confidence in its performance and reliability.
If a merchant simply needs a basic solution to restrict access to certain products, and if their security needs are less complex, Latch ‑ Restricted Products *might* be sufficient, but the lack of reviews and specific feature details makes it difficult to recommend confidently. The merchant should thoroughly research and test this app to ensure it meets their needs, especially given the availability of other product access control options in the app store.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up and use?
While both apps claim to simplify security, miniOrange Single Sign On‑SSO likely requires a more technical setup due to its integration with various IdPs. Latch ‑ Restricted Products, if its functionality is as basic as its name suggests, might be easier to set up initially but may lack the flexibility of miniOrange.
Does Latch ‑ Restricted Products support Single Sign-On?
Based on the provided description, Latch ‑ Restricted Products does not appear to offer Single Sign-On functionality. Its focus seems to be primarily on restricting access to specific products within the store.
Which app is more suitable for a Shopify Plus store?
miniOrange Single Sign On‑SSO is explicitly tailored for Shopify Plus stores, offering flexible login options and robust integration with enterprise-level identity providers. Latch ‑ Restricted Products doesn't mention Shopify Plus compatibility, implying it may be less suitable for larger, more complex store setups.
What if I only want to restrict access to products for specific customer groups?
If your primary need is simply restricting product access, Latch ‑ Restricted Products might suffice, but you should explore other apps specifically built for that purpose, comparing their pricing and feature sets with miniOrange. miniOrange may offer more advanced control depending on its capabilities to map user attributes from the IDP to Shopify customer tags.
How do the pricing models of these apps compare?
The pricing models are not provided, so a comparison is impossible. The merchant should review the Shopify App Store listings for each app to understand their respective costs and any subscription tiers involved.
