LensAdvisor: Prescription Lens vs Magical Custom Fields & Uploadfor Shopify (2026)
LensAdvisor: Prescription Lens and Magical Custom Fields & Upload both aim to enhance product customization on Shopify, but cater to distinct needs. LensAdvisor focuses specifically on the optical industry, streamlining the process of selling prescription eyewear (glasses, sunglasses, and contact lenses) online. It automates prescription collection, offers lens options, and even connects merchants with optical labs. Magical Custom Fields & Upload, on the other hand, is a more general-purpose solution for adding various custom fields (text boxes, file uploads, etc.) to product pages and checkout, enabling broader product personalization and information collection. The primary difference lies in their specialization. LensAdvisor provides a comprehensive, industry-specific solution for prescription eyewear, including prescription management and lab connections. Magical Custom Fields & Upload offers more general customization capabilities applicable to a wider range of products and merchants who need to collect personalized details or offer various upsells. Both apps share the 'Custom products', 'Custom file upload', and 'Product variants' categories on the Shopify app store, demonstrating some overlap in functionality, but their core focuses diverge significantly.
