LensAdvisor: Prescription Lens vs Rupantar AIfor Shopify (2026)
LensAdvisor: Prescription Lens and Rupantar AI are Shopify apps targeting vastly different niches within e-commerce. LensAdvisor focuses on enabling merchants to sell prescription eyewear online, automating the prescription capture process and connecting them with optical labs. Its strength lies in streamlining the complexities of selling prescription lenses, contact lenses, and glasses online, a notoriously difficult area. Rupantar AI, in contrast, provides a virtual try-on solution for fashion merchants, allowing customers to preview outfits on themselves using AI. Its core value is boosting purchase confidence and reducing returns by offering a more engaging and personalized shopping experience. The apps share the 'Custom file upload' category, but their utilization is fundamentally different. LensAdvisor uses file uploads for prescription images, while Rupantar AI uses them for customer photos to enable the virtual try-on. While LensAdvisor emphasizes back-end automation and connection to optical labs, Rupantar AI focuses on front-end customer engagement and conversion optimization. LensAdvisor caters to eyewear retailers, specifically those looking to expand into or improve their online prescription sales, while Rupantar AI serves fashion retailers looking to enhance their customer experience and reduce return rates. The significant difference in review counts and ratings currently favors LensAdvisor.

Our Verdict
For merchants selling eyewear, especially prescription glasses, sunglasses, or contact lenses, LensAdvisor appears to be the clear choice, given its functionality tailored to that specific niche and its positive user reviews. The app addresses the complex needs of selling prescription eyewear online and provides tools to streamline the process. However, the low review count suggests that it still might be less feature-complete or fully polished than other more established apps in similar verticals.
On the other hand, Rupantar AI is ideal for fashion retailers seeking to improve customer engagement and reduce returns through a virtual try-on experience. While the current lack of reviews is a significant concern, the concept of virtual try-ons is compelling for apparel e-commerce. Merchants should carefully evaluate Rupantar AI's performance and reliability before committing, especially given the absence of user feedback.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Rupantar AI claims a 'quick onboarding' experience, suggesting it's designed for ease of setup. LensAdvisor's setup process isn't explicitly described, but its feature set implies a potentially more complex configuration involving prescription types, lens options, and integration with optical labs.
Which app focuses on reducing returns?
Rupantar AI specifically aims to reduce return rates by providing realistic previews of clothing on customers, increasing purchase confidence. LensAdvisor doesn't directly address return reduction in its description.
Which app requires image uploads?
Both apps utilize image uploads, but in different ways. LensAdvisor accepts prescription images/PDFs. Rupantar AI requires customers to upload a photo of themselves to try on clothes virtually.
Which app is better for a store that sells both clothing and eyewear?
Since the apps focus on separate areas, using both apps concurrently is possible. You would need LensAdvisor for the eyewear section and Rupantar AI for the apparel section of your store. However, this assumes that they would both work with your store's theme and structure.
What is the biggest risk in selecting Rupantar AI?
The biggest risk is the lack of reviews. Without user feedback, it's difficult to assess the app's reliability, accuracy of the AI try-on, and overall effectiveness. The description also offers no details about its pricing structure, so that could also be a risk.
