Our Verdict
For merchants who are nonprofits, charities, or brands heavily focused on social responsibility and integrating charitable giving into their business model, Lift: Charity and Donations is the clear choice. Its specialized features cater specifically to donation management and fundraising within a Shopify store. Loyoly ‑ Loyalty and Referral is the better option for merchants primarily concerned with increasing customer loyalty, retention, and generating user-generated content. The app's wide range of missions and customizable rewards make it a powerful tool for engaging customers and building a loyal brand following. While both apps share a category, their core functionalities and target audiences are distinct. Given the significant difference in the number of reviews, Loyoly may be considered more mature and widely adopted, although the lack of reviews for Lift could also indicate it is a newer offering.
Common Questions
Are both apps suitable for all Shopify store owners?
No, while both apps are under the Customer Loyalty category, they address different business needs. Lift focuses on charitable giving, while Loyoly focuses on customer retention and UGC.
Which app is easier to set up?
Both apps claim easy setup. Lift describes 'Seamless Store Integration', while Loyoly claims 'Easy set-up and integration of your rewards program, in just a few clicks' and '3-minutes setup'. Testing is required to determine which is empirically easier.
Which app provides better reporting?
Lift provides 'clear reports on donations and payments' according to the description. Loyoly doesn't explicitly mention reporting features, but any loyalty program should have reporting functionality. Further investigation is needed to compare reporting capabilities comprehensively.
Can I use both apps simultaneously?
Potentially, yes. If a merchant wanted to reward loyalty but also contribute a portion of sales to charity, both apps could be used. However, ensure the reward system and donation prompts do not conflict or overwhelm customers.
Does either app have integration with social media?
Loyoly has many missions that focus on social media (sharing posts etc). There is no mention of social media integration for Lift, so Loyoly is probably the better option for social campaigns.
