Lift: Charity and Donations vs Mandatum: Free Climate Impact.for Shopify (2026)
Lift: Charity and Donations and Mandatum: Free Climate Impact both aim to enhance the Shopify experience by integrating charitable or environmental initiatives. However, they approach this goal from distinctly different angles. Lift focuses on direct donation collection, providing tools for nonprofits and businesses to seamlessly integrate various donation options into their online stores and POS systems. It targets organizations actively seeking to raise funds for specific causes. Mandatum, conversely, positions itself as a way to address climate impact without requiring additional budget allocation. It enables merchants to redirect existing commercial costs toward environmental initiatives, appealing to businesses seeking to enhance their brand image and attract eco-conscious customers. The core difference lies in whether the merchant wants to actively collect donations (Lift) or passively contribute to environmental causes through existing business processes (Mandatum).

Our Verdict
Lift: Charity and Donations appears to be the better option for organizations (especially nonprofits) that want to actively raise funds through their Shopify store, offering a wide range of customizable donation options and multi-channel support. The positive rating, although based on limited reviews, suggests a user-friendly experience. Mandatum: Free Climate Impact, on the other hand, is geared towards businesses looking to passively contribute to environmental causes and enhance their brand image without disrupting existing budgets or operations. Its value proposition centers around attracting eco-conscious customers and showcasing climate impact. Considering the absence of reviews, caution is advised with Mandatum until further user feedback is available. For businesses with no donation strategy in place, Mandatum may represent an easier and cost effective starting point into the sustainability space.
Common Questions
Which app is better for nonprofits?
Lift: Charity and Donations is likely a better fit for nonprofits as it directly facilitates fundraising and offers features tailored for their needs.
Which app is easier to set up and use?
Based on the descriptions, Mandatum claims a quick setup in minutes, implying a simpler process. Lift requires integrating widgets and popups, which may involve more configuration. However, the absence of reviews makes it challenging to fully assess Mandatum's ease of use.
Which app provides more customizable donation options?
Lift offers a wider range of customizable donation options, including round-ups, donation tiers, match funds, and portion-of-sale contributions, whereas Mandatum's option hinges on rerouting discounts and returns to climate action.
Which app is more cost-effective?
Mandatum is described as not costing extra. It redirects existing commercial costs so is inherently designed to be 'free'. Lift does not state costs, but may have fees associated with the service and/or transaction fees.
Which app is better for improving brand image?
While both apps can potentially improve brand image, Mandatum explicitly focuses on enhancing brand value by aligning with environmental concerns and attracting eco-conscious customers. Lift's impact on brand image is more indirect, stemming from supporting charitable causes.
