Lift: Charity and Donations vs PlasticPledge by Oceanworksfor Shopify (2026)
Both Lift: Charity and Donations and PlasticPledge by Oceanworks aim to integrate charitable giving into a Shopify store, but they target different needs and offer distinct approaches. Lift is positioned as a comprehensive donation platform applicable to both nonprofits raising funds and businesses integrating charitable giving into their brand. It offers versatile donation options like round-ups, custom amounts, and match-funding, focusing on providing flexible and seamless donation experiences. PlasticPledge, on the other hand, specifically addresses the plastic pollution crisis. It focuses on enabling merchants to fund plastic waste collection and market their sustainability efforts, appealing directly to eco-conscious brands and consumers. The key difference lies in their core mission: Lift provides tools for a wide range of charitable causes, while PlasticPledge centers solely on combating plastic pollution. Lift emphasizes donation flexibility and integration with various sales channels (online and POS), while PlasticPledge focuses on automating plastic collection and marketing sustainability. Lift appears to be more versatile for general charity integration, while PlasticPledge offers a specialized solution for merchants passionate about addressing the plastic crisis and engaging sustainability-minded customers. Both apps are well-rated, but Lift has a larger review base, indicating potentially wider adoption or longer availability.

Our Verdict
If a merchant needs a general donation app with versatile options and POS integration for a broad range of charitable causes, Lift: Charity and Donations is likely the better choice. Its flexibility caters to various needs, from round-ups to match-funding. However, merchants specifically committed to combating plastic pollution and attracting eco-conscious customers should strongly consider PlasticPledge by Oceanworks. PlasticPledge's focus on automating plastic collection and providing tools to market sustainability efforts makes it ideal for businesses aiming to demonstrate a clear environmental impact and drive AOV with customers who care about sustainability. While both have high ratings, the larger review count for Lift *might* suggest a longer track record, though this is speculative given the limited review volume for both.
