LockPro: Password Protect Lock vs OTP Login with Phonefor Shopify (2026)
LockPro: Password Protect Lock and OTP Login with Phone are both Shopify apps designed to enhance account and login security, but they address fundamentally different needs. LockPro focuses on restricting access to specific content (products, collections, pages, etc.) through password protection, customer tags, and country blocking. It is explicitly designed for B2B, wholesale, and private stores requiring granular control over who views and purchases specific items. In contrast, OTP Login with Phone streamlines the standard login/registration process for all customers by replacing traditional passwords with one-time passwords (OTP) sent via phone or email. Its aim is to provide a smoother, more secure, and potentially faster login experience for all users, regardless of their customer segment. Both apps enhance security, but LockPro is about controlling *who* sees *what*, while OTP Login is about simplifying *how* everyone logs in.

Our Verdict
For merchants operating wholesale, B2B, or private stores needing fine-grained control over content visibility and access based on customer segments or location, LockPro is the more suitable option. Its ability to lock specific products, collections, or pages and to block access from certain countries makes it ideal for managing restricted or exclusive content. On the other hand, merchants seeking to improve the overall user experience and security of their store's login process for *all* customers should opt for OTP Login with Phone. The streamlined login and registration process offered by OTP can reduce friction and improve conversion rates. While both provide a type of security, they serve distinct purposes.
Common Questions
Which app is better for a store selling both retail and wholesale?
LockPro is likely more beneficial as it allows you to hide wholesale products or collections from retail customers, providing a tailored experience for each group.
Is LockPro a complete replacement for Shopify's customer account system?
No, LockPro works in conjunction with your existing customer accounts. It adds an additional layer of access control on top of the standard Shopify accounts.
Can OTP Login with Phone prevent bot accounts from being created?
OTP Login with Phone can reduce bot account creation by requiring phone or email verification, but it's not a foolproof solution. Sophisticated bots may still bypass the OTP system.
Which app is easier to set up and configure?
OTP Login with Phone is likely easier to set up since it focuses on a single function: OTP-based login. LockPro's extensive features and rule-based system require more configuration.
Do either of these apps affect store loading speed?
Both apps potentially add small delays. OTP Login with Phone needs to connect to an SMS or email service. LockPro adds checks for access rules. Optimize for performance by using a reliable provider and minimizing complex rules.
