Locksmith vs Singleton | Verify Customersfor Shopify (2026)
Locksmith and Singleton | Verify Customers both operate within the 'Accounts and login' category on Shopify, but they cater to distinct merchant needs. Locksmith, with a 4.7/5 rating from a larger pool of 293 reviews, likely provides a broader and more established range of access control features. Given the higher review count, it suggests a potentially more mature product with a wider user base and a greater volume of feedback informing its development. Singleton | Verify Customers, on the other hand, boasts a perfect 5/5 rating, though based on only 78 reviews. Its headline and description clearly position it as a customer verification and access restriction solution, explicitly focusing on controlling who sees pricing and 'add to cart' buttons. This specialization makes it ideal for businesses with stringent customer eligibility requirements or those operating within regulated industries. Singleton’s ability to create custom registration forms and directly manage customer visibility of key store elements distinguishes it from a more generalized access control solution like Locksmith. It's a very focused tool for businesses that need granular control over which customers can see product details or make purchases.

Our Verdict
For merchants seeking a comprehensive access control solution across various store aspects, Locksmith is likely the better choice due to its broader feature set and greater number of reviews. Its flexibility allows for diverse access management strategies. However, for businesses specifically needing to meticulously verify customers and restrict access to product information and purchasing abilities, Singleton | Verify Customers is a more tailored and potentially more effective solution.
Singleton's feature set focuses intensely on controlling customer visibility and actions, making it ideal for B2B stores, membership-based businesses, or those required to verify users due to industry regulations. The ability to create custom registration forms and manage access based on customer tags provides a granular level of control not explicitly mentioned in Locksmith's description.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up and use?
While it's impossible to definitively say without user testing, Singleton | Verify Customers, with its more focused feature set, is likely easier to set up and manage for its specific use case. Locksmith might require more initial configuration due to its broader capabilities.
Does Locksmith offer customer verification features similar to Singleton?
Locksmith's listing doesn't explicitly mention customer verification features like custom registration forms or direct approval/decline functionality. It likely offers access control based on other criteria (tags, login status, etc.), but not necessarily explicit verification.
If I need to hide entire pages from non-logged-in users, which app is better?
Both apps likely provide this functionality, but Locksmith's general access control focus suggests it may offer more sophisticated page-level restriction options beyond just hiding content from non-logged-in users, allowing for greater granularity depending on the customer.
Which app is better for a B2B store needing to gate prices?
Singleton | Verify Customers is explicitly designed for this purpose. Its core feature set revolves around controlling who sees prices and 'add to cart' buttons, making it the more suitable choice for B2B price gating.
