Loggr ‑ Edit History & Revert vs Metafields Gurufor Shopify (2026)
Loggr ‑ Edit History & Revert and Metafields Guru are both 5-star rated apps on the Shopify app store, but cater to very different needs. Loggr focuses on change management and version control for product information. Its primary strength lies in its ability to track and revert changes to product details, offering a safety net against errors and facilitating accountability. Metafields Guru, conversely, centers around extending Shopify's data model through metafields, empowering merchants to store and display custom data beyond standard product attributes. Its strength is in adding richer functionality and design elements to the storefront by leveraging metafields. While both apps are listed under the “Bulk Editor” category, their interpretations of this function differ. Loggr’s bulk editing capabilities are related to reverting product changes, essentially undoing bulk edits. Metafields Guru, on the other hand, provides tools for bulk creation, updating, and exporting/importing metafields, a completely different bulk editing task. Thus, choosing between the two hinges on whether a merchant needs product edit tracking and reversion or advanced metafield management.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily concerned with preventing errors in product data and quickly reverting unwanted changes, Loggr ‑ Edit History & Revert is the clear choice. It offers a focused solution to a specific problem, especially valuable for larger teams or those dealing with complex product catalogs. However, if the goal is to expand Shopify's data model, add custom data fields, and enhance the storefront's functionality and design, Metafields Guru is the superior option. Its comprehensive suite of metafield management tools enables advanced customization and data-driven storefront experiences.
Common Questions
