Our Verdict
While both apps offer product customization features, they cater to slightly different needs and merchant profiles. OPTIS Product Options, Variant, with its significantly higher number of reviews, likely offers a robust and well-tested solution specifically for creating and managing product options and variants. It's a safer bet for merchants primarily focused on that core functionality. Magical Custom Fields & Upload presents a broader feature set, including upsells and, critically, checkout custom fields exclusive to Shopify Plus merchants. This makes it the clear choice for Plus merchants needing checkout customization. Even for non-Plus merchants, the added functionality of upsells and more diverse field options may make it more appealing, provided they are comfortable with a potentially newer or less widely-used app.
