Mannequin ‑ AI Virtual Try On vs Picture It: AR & Art Previewsfor Shopify (2026)
Mannequin ‑ AI Virtual Try On and Picture It: AR & Art Previews both aim to enhance the shopping experience using augmented reality (AR) within the Shopify ecosystem. However, they cater to distinctly different product categories. Mannequin, despite the lack of reviews, positions itself towards a virtual try-on experience, likely for apparel or accessories. In contrast, Picture It: AR & Art Previews focuses specifically on wall art and home decor. The significant difference in their positioning directly informs their target audience and core features. Picture It has the clear advantage of a solid user base, a perfect rating, and a specific set of functionalities aimed at increasing confidence in art purchases. Mannequin, without any reviews, faces the challenge of proving its value proposition in a saturated market of AR apps. The presence of reviews and a clear value proposition around art preview features make Picture It a much more compelling option. The fact that Picture It caters to art galleries and home decor stores further narrows the target audience and makes its feature set more refined towards those niche use cases.

Our Verdict
For merchants selling wall art or home decor, Picture It: AR & Art Previews is the clear winner. The 5/5 rating with 35 reviews, combined with its specific feature set (like virtual showrooms and automatic dimension importing) make it a robust and user-friendly choice. The fact that it doesn't require pre-existing 3D models is a huge advantage. Mannequin ‑ AI Virtual Try On, on the other hand, remains a risky option. While the virtual try-on concept is intriguing, the complete lack of reviews makes it impossible to assess its functionality, ease of use, or value proposition. If a merchant requires virtual try-on functionality for apparel or accessories, they should research and test Mannequin thoroughly, or consider alternative apps with established reputations. A merchant should only consider Mannequin after contacting the developer and assessing the app's functionality.
