Our Verdict
For Shopify merchants who manufacture their products and need to manage raw materials, track production costs, and avoid stockouts, Materials Inventory is the clearly superior choice. Its high rating and specific features cater directly to the needs of makers and manufacturers. On the other hand, SyncLogic might be beneficial for businesses managing multiple storefronts or engaging in dropshipping/wholesale arrangements. However, the 0/5 rating raises serious concerns about its reliability and functionality. Merchants considering SyncLogic should proceed with extreme caution and look for further testimonials or perform thorough testing before fully committing. A merchant with both manufacturing and multiple store needs would likely require BOTH apps.
Common Questions
Which app is better for managing raw materials?
Materials Inventory is specifically designed for managing raw materials. It provides features for creating bills of materials, tracking costs, and generating purchase orders to ensure you have the right amount of materials at the right time. SyncLogic does not offer this functionality.
Can SyncLogic help me with manufacturing?
No, SyncLogic is designed to synchronize product information and inventory across multiple storefronts. It does not offer any features related to manufacturing processes or raw material management.
Does Materials Inventory sync inventory across multiple stores?
No, Materials Inventory focuses on managing inventory within a single Shopify store, specifically related to raw materials and finished goods production. It does not synchronize inventory across multiple stores.
Why does SyncLogic have a 0/5 rating?
A 0/5 rating suggests significant user dissatisfaction with the app. Potential reasons could include bugs, unreliable synchronization, poor customer support, or a mismatch between the app's advertised features and its actual functionality. Further investigation is strongly recommended before using this app.
If I sell both retail and wholesale and make my own products, which app is better?
In your case, you'd ideally use BOTH apps. Materials Inventory manages your manufacturing side (raw materials, product profitability), while SyncLogic could (assuming it's reliable) manage inventory and product details across your retail and wholesale store setups. Proceed with extreme caution and test SyncLogic thoroughly due to its 0/5 rating.
