MAZINGXR ‑ from 2D to 3D to AR vs Metadome Virtual Try‑Onfor Shopify (2026)
MAZINGXR ‑ from 2D to 3D to AR and Metadome Virtual Try‑On both reside in the 3D/AR/VR category on the Shopify App Store, but cater to different niches and show vastly different initial reception. MAZINGXR offers a broader approach by focusing on converting 2D assets into 3D and AR experiences, which suggests a wider applicability across product types. Metadome Virtual Try‑On, on the other hand, zeroes in on beauty product try-ons, specifically cosmetics, leveraging AR to improve customer experience and sales within that specific vertical. The key distinction lies in the specialization. Metadome Virtual Try‑On's description emphasizes features specifically tailored for the beauty industry, such as precise facial adaptation and mixing/matching of looks. In contrast, MAZINGXR's value proposition is implied to be more general, helping merchants enhance product visualization through 3D and AR across various sectors. The substantial difference in user ratings and the number of reviews strongly suggests a more positive early reception for MAZINGXR, although the small number of reviews for both apps warrants caution.

Our Verdict
Given the limited information, MAZINGXR appears to be the safer bet for merchants seeking general 3D/AR solutions. Its perfect rating, even with a small sample size, suggests a positive initial experience for users. However, Metadome Virtual Try‑On is specifically designed for beauty product retailers and could be a better fit for businesses solely focused on cosmetics, especially if they are willing to take a risk on a newer app with a low rating. The low rating, though concerning, could also represent growing pains that are being addressed. A thorough trial period is recommended for either app before committing to a paid plan.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to use for a beginner?
Without detailed information on MAZINGXR, it's difficult to definitively say. However, the targeted design of Metadome Virtual Try‑On towards a specific use case may make it more straightforward for merchants in the beauty industry to set up initially, assuming technical issues indicated by the low rating are resolved.
Which app is more likely to increase sales?
Metadome Virtual Try‑On explicitly aims to increase cart value and checkout rates through virtual try-on. Whether it achieves this in practice will depend on the quality of its AR implementation and the app's overall performance. MAZINGXR's impact on sales is less directly stated and relies on the general improvement in product visualization.
Which app offers broader product support?
MAZINGXR likely offers broader product support due to its focus on converting 2D assets into 3D/AR experiences. Metadome Virtual Try‑On is explicitly designed for beauty products.
Which app has better customer support?
The app store descriptions do not provide any information about the quality of customer support for either app. Further research, such as checking the developers' websites or reaching out to their support teams, would be necessary to determine which app offers better customer support.
Is Metadome Virtual Try‑On worth the risk despite its low rating?
For beauty product retailers specifically looking for a virtual try-on solution, Metadome Virtual Try‑On might be worth a trial period if the features align closely with their needs. However, the low rating suggests potential issues that need to be carefully evaluated before committing to a paid plan. Monitoring for updates addressing user feedback is also advised.
